Kyorugi competition at the Ocean Center runs from 23–25 October, with Juniors opening on Friday, Seniors following on Saturday and Cadets competing on Sunday. TAEKWONDO.TV lists 909 registrations for the Kyorugi event.
USA Taekwondo and the Pan American Taekwondo Union have opened the inaugural championship to clubs worldwide. Its regional significance goes beyond the new trophies: PATU president Juan Manuel López Delgado says it provides another opportunity for athletes in the Americas to pursue World Ranking points closer to home.
The announced club scoring gives 10 points for gold, five for silver and one for bronze. Winning a final therefore doubles an athlete’s contribution to the club standings compared with finishing second.
The organizers list separate club awards for black belt and color belt Kyorugi. These are club standings, rather than a contest between national delegations.
Saturday’s Seniors competition carries the World Taekwondo G1 designation. The Kyorugi information packet also lists USATKD 50.0 ranking status for domestic athletes; those are separate ranking systems.
The published schedule places black belt Junior competition on Friday and black belt Senior competition on Saturday, both from 08:30 local time. Sunday’s programme includes Cadets and younger age groups, alongside color belt Junior and Senior competition.
